I don’t know where the hell my day is going but it’s half way after two pm and I am nowhere near done with the ToDo list. Friends from Michigan stopped by earlier – completely out of the blue – and we ended up talking forever. The Keys are like that. People just up and decide – spontaneously – “We need to drive down to the Keys for a few days!” — and then they are at my door with my house all akilter looking to hang out for a few hours.
I’m taking a lunch break and reading the latest hilarity over at Jonah Goldberg’s place. The poor squid had the termerity to try to school Sarah Palin on how to behave from now until the election in 2012 — like anyone could. I didn’t bother reading his original article. I sincerely doubt Palin will read it either. She’s a force of nature, man. Stop trying.
The hate mail he got – that’s some funny, funny stuff. My personal favorite is:
You might just be talking out of your ass to your elitist colleagues at this point. I suggest you stop reading the biased media and watching the edited tv and get out in the real world and do actual research on Sarah Palin. Jesus Christ…what a lazy piece of s**t you are.

To his credit, Goldberg is taking it all in stride. He gets in one pointed\pointless shot, though, with this:
If Sarah Palin follows the advice of readers like them, she’s doomed on the national political stage. She’ll make a great Joan of Arc for a certain segment of the public, but she’ll never go beyond that. And I think that would be a shame.
Give it up Mr. Goldberg. She’s loved precisely BECAUSE she is deep down, politically incorrect just like us. You are not going to be able to package her like a Barbie Doll. You are not understanding her charisma – but that’s ok because – as the kids say: Keep talking Sh*t (asterisks are mine), you’re making her famous.
