General Petraeus just made the “Enemies List”
Petraeus going to Iowa, a state he doesn’t have previous ties to, is going to create a huge amount of buzz about his presidential ambitions because the Iowa Caucuses kick off the whole presidential nomination process. If he does, deliver the address—and Petraeus must know this—it will be seen as a sign that he is thinking about running in 2012.
That “8:45 A.M. call” should be interesting on Monday if they haven’t already had it. I figure Glenn Beck’s family and General Petraeus’ family are on the hit list and we should expect to see the main stream media kick it into high gear this week on a hunt and destroy mission. I would like to believe they have the finesse to be subtle about it, but so far they’ve been like bulldozers in a china factory.
Not since Nixon have we had such out in the light of day character assassins on the loose. Fortuntely for Obama, we have a huge cross section of the nation either too ignorant or wilfully blind to combat it with common sense and decency. I imagine it must have felt like this in the last days of Rome, or as Great Britain crumbled. It must have felt like everyone in power was insane and that no one cared about the citizens who worked their asses off to keep the nation going.
All we can do is watch the insanely brave men and women stick their necks out to try to bring some balance back to our country and stop this madness and wait for the lunatics now in DC come after them with their favorite new weapon of choice, their pets, the main stream media. They reward the faithful and punish the weak.
The majority voted for this and this is what the majority wants for us. Revenge. We are in an underground civil war. When historians look back on these days, what will they say about us? I guess it kind of depends on who wins, but if they are honest and unbiased – assuming such a thing will ever be possible in the future – they will call all of us idiots. They will point to the extremes of both parties and say that the information age exploded their size and influence all out of proportion to their numbers. They will point to a segment of the population who is not online and still getting news from the former big three as zombies who had no idea what was happening all around them as their nation crumbled. And they will little note the conservatives and liberals who tried to band together to push back the incredible wave of stupidity that rose up to crush us from all sides.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When this nation elected a far left extremist for a president with marxist ideology, a man who said very clearly what programs he was going to push through come hell or high water, the far right took a jolt to the heart that trippled their following over night. It makes sense that Obama would go after Rush Limbaugh because on scale, ideology and influence they are equals now. We are entering a time when we all have to pick a side. There is no room for compromise anymore. We cannot beat down our own without hurting ourselves. I love my liberal friends with my last breath, especially the ones who can back up their liberal views with solid facts and rational analysis, but I just can’t anymore without seeing the end game of Obama smack in my face. I can’t. It’s like alcohol. Drambuie, Royal Salute, a good Madroña Vineyards reserve wine, though I love it in moderation, I only open a bottle when the world is calm, the work week is done, and I can relax for a few hours to enjoy it. It’s as if I am looking at a country of alcoholics and I can’t bring myself to enjoy even a small sip of what’s driven so many people to nationwide self-destruction.
I see no good ending for any of this.
It feels like Rwanda where so many just wanted to just get on with theirs lives and they ignored the angry rhetoric for too long. The news media just kept pounding down the voices of opposition, targeting enemies lists of the government in power and it all errupted in a massive push back.
We should not stand for this, but we will.
This blind hatred for fellow Americans – the intense animosity burning out of DC ignited by the words, “I won” – it will consume us all. I don’t see Obama backing off the dogs of political warfare and offering an olive branch. He is there to right the perceived wrongs of centuries. The thing is, revenge is a living, indescriminate beast once it’s unleashed. Is this really what we wanted? Is this who we really are? I visit my friends websites and the hate is still burning and I have to answer, “Yes”. This is what we wanted. This is who we are. Some people have been conjecturing that the moderate left will have to wake up soon and see what’s happening here, but I don’t agree. I think the polarization has taken on a life of its own.
Interesting times.
