An illness in the family has kept me from being consistent in my posts and I’m taking this weekend to get things back on track. In my tradition of keeping my fractured life fractured, and even though I have several blogs already for writing, snark, politics (this one), etc, I felt the most compelling need to blog this illness so I created a new blog on the side. Starting tomorrow I am going to make Sunday my rant day and Monday my links day. The rest of the week will be notes on whatever is going in in politics and the conservative world.

Today I am catching up on housework and getting the last of the Christmas decorations down. Hope all of you are well, safe and sound.

Good grief, friend! I don’t have anything that will help you but friendship. I’ll follow your new blog and go on the journey with you as best I can. Thanks for sharing.

You have my sympathy, it is very tough dealing with a chronic illness in a loved one when there is very little information available for support and guidance. I have been dealing with a chronic condition with my daughter for four years.

I can say after having dealt with this for quite a while now, the best advice I got was from the anesthesiologist at my daughter’s first operation. She took me aside afterward and said there is something very unusual about her condition and most likely I was going to have to take charge to find the answers to getting her well. She suggested I do exactly what you are doing, search for information, keep notes, do the research etc. You will get to a point where you understand this better than the doctors which they will both resent and welcome at various points.

I wish had gone the route you are going with a blog but it just wasn’t something I thought of at the time. I wouldn’t be surprised if you soon find others making their way to your blog. In any case the more the you know and document the better. It is very empowering which is often a big part of the battle.

Thank you. I am completely squicked by medical stuff but getting over it quickly. I hope your daughter is ok?

She’s ok, they’re treating symptoms rather than the underlying disease but right now that is ok with me. You’ll really get over being squicked. I have an idea for you but I will write it over at the other blog.
